He is! But he's just scared. He's so scared of getting attached. He's got Aravae and he's got Will and he's got Hunith and that's it - he doesn't want to get attached to anyone else, because last time he did they died and he got his heart broken. But now Arthur has kind of screwed that plan up, and Merlin is very conflicted, because he knows what he wants, but he also knows what could happen if he goes after what he wants. Poor baby.
...I actually hadn't thought of it that way, but that's a good point. It was just Merlin's fear of hurt, really. But yeah, it could be that way. My theory was that Merlin didn't want Arthur to get killed, because he loves him and because he's been hurt so much before, and he knows that if the King finds out about Arthur, and then Merlin's relationship with Arthur, he'll take Arthur because he knows it will bring Merlin to him, and that's what he doesn't want, because he knows he'd do anything for Arthur, and both of them are needed if they're going to beat the King.
Yeah, I think about this stuff waaaaay too much. x3
Oh, I know how they're gonna get together, don't worry. It's all planned out. x3
