and it's day one...
Life is grand...being staff at this camp is beyond amazing...I can't believe I'm staff, and not a camper. I want to do all these things that campers are doing, but i can't, because i am staff.
this is the first hour yet I have been able to have to myself. meaning...for the past however many hours I have been here, I have been looking after two of the most adorable kids ever, and another one who is convinced he is superman. These kids are just the most adorable things ever. The next two hours i have to babysit them are after lunch. During this time, mom said I could just put on a movie for them, to get them ready for their nap later on...praise the Lord.
The only person I have met here so far is my suite mate. I have a room to myself. There is a bathroom in between our rooms which we share. We are like two of about five staff here. not counting faculty and counselors. She is really nice. she has a very bubbily personality, which is great. I haven't really had the chance to talk to her. i came in from watching the boys at 11 last night, and introduced myself to her, we had a quick chat, then both agreed it was far beyond bedtime. I have a feeling that for the next few weeks I will not be getting much sleep. This morning I woke up, she was in the shower, so I stayed in bed until she was done. I showered and she knocked on her side of the bathroom door to say goodmorning. that was the extent of the conversation, and by the time I was done with everything, she was gone. We did sit next to chapel today though, which was cool....as I walked in fashionably late with my mom and dr. shewan.
I really kind of like it here. and the kids, though the last half an hour was a pain in the butt, they are pretty cool too. It's nice just being here on my own, and on staff, not having to worry about anything, except praying that the kids don't by some chance fall off their bikes around the corner where I can't see them...and praying that I don't have to use the nurses number at all during this week. oh dear.
anyway, i'm off to lunch. will write more sometime. :)
