Notes from the constant running log of the Circumgyratory Spooling Noticulator-MK2 in attractive black. The quality of the penmanship, and thus the pen used in question, are both high. All running log entries in the noticulator start with a date and then entered one per ruled line by number and time.
The townhouse has a third story in the walkup. That third story is more of an attic, but it has a window at the end and a little tiny porch. One can climb out the window, get on the porch, and then climb the trellis up to the rooftop. The roof is sturdy enough and flat enough to support someone sitting up there having a bit of a smoke.
Then dawn comes when the sun rises over the harbor in a riot of ten thousand brilliant glorious colors and the sounds of the harbor rise to meet the morning light and you think to yourself, for just one moment: this isn't such a rotten place after all.
And then you also think, if someone was tossed off the roof, that landing was going to hurt.
