“He’s staring at you again.”

Ohno didn’t immediately turn around as Nino whispered the words to his ear; he invaded his personal space, but it was nothing new - it was something to be expected from Nino after all. Ohno kept his gaze on the magazine he had on hands, and, after a few minutes, he stole a glance to the younger man on the other side of the green room. “No, he’s not.” Ohno mumbled softly as he then turned his brown eyes back to the magazine.

“You just missed it, again.” Nino said with a sigh as he then rested his head on Ohno’s shoulder. “You always missed it anyway.”

“Either that or he really didn’t look at me.”

“Are you saying that I’m lying?” Nino voice rose a bit, though Ohno knew he wasn’t angry; it was just Nino’s way to show someone that he was serious, though still, Ohno found it hard to believe. But he shook his head lightly, just to please Nino, and then he added, “It’s just - I never see him staring at me.”

“Because you never really paid attention to him. Poor Sho-chan.” Ohno knitted his eyebrows at the mention of Sho’s name - it wasn’t like he didn’t like it, but he was afraid that Sho might hear; the newscaster was really aware of his surrounding after all. But he couldn’t say anything back to Nino because then the younger man patted his shoulder as he stood. “Pay more attention to him and you’ll see.” He told him, and then Nino left for the restroom.

Ohno sighed as he took another glance at Sho, who was busy chatting with Aiba about some kind of food; Sho caught his stare though, and they exchanged smiles before Sho turned back to Aiba and Ohno back to his magazine.

Sho really wasn’t staring at him.

But Nino has always been insisting that Sho always stared at him whenever he could. The younger man described the stare as ‘such a loving stare it gave me goosebump because damn it Oh-chan he’s sooo lovestruck’ - but since Nino loved to exaggerate things, Ohno always brushed it off. He also never caught Sho staring openly at him; every time he turned to look at Sho, the other man would always be busy with something else.

Sho was a busy man, and Ohno didn’t think that he have the time to be thinking about the old, boring, plain, sleepy Ohno.

“Satoshi-kun.” Ohno looked up from his magazine to see Sho already standing before him with the soft smile playing on his full lips. “It’s time; the staff has been calling for us.”

“Ah…” Ohno set the magazine aside as he then offered his hand for Sho to take. “Pull me up~” He whined. The younger man laughed at his childish antic, and it made him laughed too, but Sho took his hand anyway and he pulled him to his feet. “There.” He said; he immediately let go of Ohno’s hand though, not that Ohno really minded - Sho was always a little bit jumpy around him after all. “Now come on, you lazy bum.”

As they walked to the studio set, Ohno took his time on studying Sho’s face. The man was handsome, sure, but Ohno loved it more when Sho was smiling, with all the little wrinkles around his eyes and how his cheeks would puffed when he did; he stared at him for a long while, but -

Not even once did Sho ever look at him.

See? He told himself mentally. Sho never looked at me.

And he truly believed that, until one night, he had a dream.

“Wake up!” A voice was ringing on his head, trying to shake him off his sleep and yet Ohno wasn’t willing to give in. “Oh-chan, wake up!” The voice said in an almost desperate manner.

Ohno finally pried his eyes opened, and the first thing he saw was Nino.

Tiny Nino with sparkling wings and a yellow dress like a fairy god mother.

Ohno blinked, once, twice, and the tiny Nino was still there, right in front of his nose, glaring at him with so much ferocity a tiny fairy could ever muster, and then Ohno closed his eyes. “Must be a dream…” He mumbled as he tried to pull the bed cover up to his head. But then he felt a sharp pain on his nose, and he shrieked as he finally lifted himself up into a sitting position, covering his nose as he glared back at the now floating Nino. “What the hell, Nino?!”

“I have to show you something!” Nino told him, and just then Ohno noticed that his voice got really high-pitched. “Quick, we don’t have much time!”

“But isn’t it just a dream…”

“Exactly! And that’s why we have to be quick, or else you’ll wake up!” Tiny Nino tugged on his pajama’s sleeves, and, even though he was feeling lazy, Ohno finally crawled off the bed, and still in his half-sleepy daze, he let the tiny Nino led him outside the bedroom. But instead of his apartment, he was suddenly in their green room, and there, sitting on the sofa, Ohno saw himself and Sho. “This is…”

“Just watch.” Tiny Nino whispered as he sat on Ohno’s shoulder, and even though Ohno had lots of questions, he obeyed. He watched himself and Sho talking about something - there were no voice, and it felt like he was watching a silent movie, when suddenly the other him and Sho broke into laughter. Ohno watched himself doing a double over for whatever Sho said, and when Ohno turned his gaze to Sho, he finally saw it.

The way Sho looked at him.

The way Sho looked at him was so - Ohno couldn’t even explain it. He was smiling softly, a smile so soft it made Ohno’s heart flutter, and his brown eyes were looking at the other Ohno warmly; it was almost as if Sho wanted to reach out to him. The eyes held so many unspoken feelings, and somehow, it made Ohno sad. “Is he always looking at me that way?” He asked almost inaudibly, almost as if he was afraid that he’d ruined the moment that was playing before his eyes.

The tiny Nino clapped his hands. “Always.”

And then the scene before him changed to the one where they were out to eat dinner together, with Sho still looking at him that way; the scene started to change rapidly, much more faster, but every scene would have Sho staring at him with so much adoration it made Ohno’s heart clenched, even more when he realized that the scene even showed the moment when they were still nothing but a pair of awkward teenager - and even then Sho was already staring at him.

It was almost as if Sho never stared at anything but him.

So Nino was true.

“I always am.” The tiny Nino said proudly, openly reading Ohno’s mind like a magazine as he clapped his hands again. This time, the scene that was played before him was from a few days ago; the moment where Nino told him that Sho was staring at him again and Ohno insisted that it wasn’t true.

But it was true. Sho did stared at him when Ohno didn’t realize it, and Aiba, too, was staring at Ohno with a wide grin playing on his lips, and he wondered if anyone else have known about it - anyone else but him.

“Oh, we knew.” The tiny Nino said again. “Even Jun too.”

“That’s not fair…” Ohno said half-heartedly. The tiny Nino shrugged as he started flying again back to his bedroom, and although a bit reluctantly, Ohno followed him. He looked back at the scene though, at the way Sho was staring at him, before then he finally closed the door behind him. “Why are you showing me this?” Ohno asked once they were safe behind the door.

“Because I want you to realize.” Nino told him softly. “I want you to realize and do something.”

“But I don’t know what to do.”

“Oh, you helpless old man.” The tiny fairy shook his head, and Ohno watched as he slowly started to disappear into the thin air, until only the high-pitched voice could be heard.

“Just confess and fuckin’ go out or something.”

Damn Nino.

The next morning, Ohno woke up with the strangest feeling he had ever felt. The dream was still burning on his mind, and it haunted him all the way to work - he even had the strong urge to smack Nino on the head when he saw him, though he knew that the ‘real’ Nino was clueless about it. But the problem was when he met Sho, because the moment the younger man walked into the room, Ohno could felt his heart beating loudly, even more when Sho was smiling at him.

And he had never felt like this before; but one thing he was so sure about.

He wanted Sho to look at him.

So for the rest of the day, Ohno was kind of getting clingy on him - not necessarily, but enough to make Sho turned his attention to him. This time Ohno was determined that he would never missed the ‘stare’ again, but he noticed that it wouldn’t work if they were surrounded with other people; Sho’d get too cautious that he wouldn’t even get too close to Ohno, and it irked him.

So even though he has been dying to go home early from work, he stayed behind so he could catch up with Sho.

“Satoshi-kun?” Sho asked in surprise when he saw that Ohno was still in the green room, rereading his fishing magazine until he felt like he was starting to remember every single words in the page. But he quickly looked up, and then he smiled to Sho, even though he was almost dying out of boredom before he got here. “Hey, Sho-chan.”

“Why are you still here?” Sho asked confusedly. “I thought you’re going home already.”

“I’m waiting for you.” Ohno answered boldly, and the way Sho’s eyes widened almost made him laughed. “I don’t know why, but I feel like spending time with Sho-chan tonight.”

“O-oh… I see…” Sho mumbled shyly as he then grabbed on his bag, slinging it on his shoulder. “Well, how about we eat dinner together then?”

“Sounds nice.” Ohno was eager for dinner; it was because of the privacy they’d get, but mostly because he was, well, hungry. So after grabbing his bag hastily, they both hurriedly left the green room. Along the way, they started discussing about their works, joking around here and there, and Ohno found himself laughing at one of Sho’s lame joke. It was so easy to be around him, that event though his heart has been hammering on his chest all the time, it felt so comfortable and -

Oh right. The stare.

And so Ohno abruptly stopped laughing and he suddenly turned his stare to Sho.

Sho was staring at him; he was staring at him with so much warmth and intensity that for a moment, Ohno forgot how to breathe. Their steps halted into a stop as they both then stared at each other, though Sho quickly looked away with blushing face then, seemingly embarrassed that he was caught staring at him. “Ah, sorry…” Sho mumbled. “I’m sorry, well…”

“Have you always been looking at me that way?” Ohno cut in breathlessly.

Sho looked like he was about to deny; it seems like that simple question was pure torture for him, because Ohno could felt a lot of emotion swirling on his honest, brown eyes, before then the younger man finally nodded. “Yeah.” He said quietly.

“Why?” Ohno asked with trembling voice.

Sho stared at him, but this time, his stare was bolder; it was almost as if he was so determined about something, and Ohno’s heart leaped to his throat as Sho’s hand was suddenly lifted up to caress his cheek, fingers tracing his cheek gently before then he cupped it. “Because I’m in love with you.” Sho whispered. “And I can’t look at anything else but you, Satoshi-kun. I don’t know why but my eyes would definitely…look for you.”

And Ohno didn’t know where did he have the courage, but he nuzzled Sho’s hand as he whispered, “I don’t want you to look at someone else but me too.”

Sho’s eyes widened for a while, before then it darkened with desire and maybe, just maybe though, love as he then pulled their face closer. “And I want you to look at me too from now on.”

And Ohno should’ve stopped him; they were in the middle of a hallway after all, where someone, anyone, could’ve walked by and saw them. But his mind turned white as Sho’s lips found his; it swept away all thoughts, replacing it with Sho only as they deepened the kiss, and in the back of his mind Ohno wondered why he had never realized it from the start.

Because the kiss - he never realized that he actually wanted it, craved for it.

When Sho pulled away, he had this big grin on his face, and so did Ohno, and they both chuckled like a pair of idiot, noses brushing with each other as they did. “Finally, you looked at me.” Sho breathed happily. “Finally.”

“Sorry for being so slow.” Ohno replied, half joking and half serious. Sho shook his head as he finally step back, but then he linked their hands together as he started to drag Ohno away. “Let’s have some ramen~” He said with a singsong voice. “And it’s my treat!”

Ohno couldn’t help but smiling as he squeezed Sho’s hand; eyes staring at Sho’s broad back lovingly. “Ramen’d be nice.” He mumbled softly.

And as he was basking in the warmth of Sho’s hand, along with the warmth that was flowing on his chest right now, Ohno swore to himself that he should thank Nino tomorrow.
