I’m not sure how I did it but I managed to get my butt up at 5:00 this morning to go to the gym. Jon went too. We weren’t going to sign up at Mercy’s Health Center because it’s really expensive. But I found out that since we’re in the program, we would get two months for the price of one to start and the start up fee would be waived. So we went last night to sign up and this morning was our first workout. It was okay as far as workouts go. They have these crazy recumbent stair steppers that the trainer put us both on to start out. I really wanted to do the elliptical but apparently I’m not ready for that level of activity yet. Yeah right…give me a week and I’ll be there because I get bored way too easily. We both managed to get in 25 minutes on that and then we did our strength training. I’m planning on going tomorrow because my plan is to go 5-6 days a week. Jon’s is only four days a week so he’s skipping out on tomorrow and going Wednesday thru Saturday.
I’m also now on the plan my nutritionist set up for me, and I’ve started taking my complete drug cocktail. So far so good, though the third pill made me a little sick yesterday. I’m much better today. I went to the weight check last night and I lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks. Not too bad considering I was still eating horribly and my only exercise was the walking I was doing on my breaks. To be fair though, that walking was more than I’d done in a really long time.
This past weekend was good though we spent a lot of money since Jon got a financial aid windfall we weren’t expecting. We almost got Chancho a friend but decided against it. Jon went paintballing on Saturday and I just stayed home and read most of the day. That evening though I went to dinner with Linder and Kat to Hibachi Hut. Yeah…probably not going to be doing that again. It’s a Cajun place and I remembered having really good Cajun in Chicago. Forgetting that real Cajun gumbo has seafood, I ordered a cup of that and then about gagged on the smell alone. I took it home for Jon to have. I also ordered a Chicken Orleans dish which was supposed to be like a Cajun pasta. That was spicy and I wasn’t too hot on the taste. So that went home to Jon too. Needless to say, I was starving by midnight and had to have him bring me home some real food. Oh well…live and learn.
On Sunday, we went to the mall. Jon needed shoes and we managed to actually find two pairs of shoes at Finish Line. He wears a size 14 and they’re really hard to find. I figured we’d only be getting one pair for about $100. But Finish Line was having a sale and he got two pairs of Nikes for about $50.00. He hates wearing shoes but I told him it was a necessary evil when going to the gym. I got a pair of shoes too, though I went the Payless route.
We also got a game he wanted and picked up a couple fitness/food journals and a calorie counter. Then we went to Wal-Mart and did a bunch more shopping. We each got two workout outfits and a bunch of healthy type foods. We also picked up a mini-fridge to ensure that our good food doesn’t get eaten by drunk roommates and their obnoxious friends. It was a long day between shopping and getting laundry done but I felt pretty accomplished at the end of it.
We’re only two days into the week but so far so good. Work has been okay, a little busier than normal because I keep taking on projects to keep me busy. At some point, possibly tonight, I have to get up to Wal-Mart to pick up my prescription refill and get a present for Korin since his birthday party is this Friday. I also need a few more things, like some salad and dressing to eat at home. I might wait until tomorrow night though. I think tonight I really just want to veg out.
On that note, I’m signing off for now. Give me a few more days and maybe I’ll have some excitement to blog about. Then again, maybe not. Ciao!
