Query? Icons/Gifs

Is anyone on my flist or tlist good at making icons and/or gifs or maybe making icons from existing gifs? Or could someone teach me same or send me a good tutorial? I just redownloaded Photoshop CS5.1 so that's what i'd be using for graphics.
