I've always been a hard worker. Some would call me a workaholic. Energy was flowing when there was something to do.
to the point where i'd be bored on the only day off.
A full-time student taking "overtime" courses, working part-time and volunteering, still finding time to see friends and
meet other people, I felt I was living it up and eager for more.
But what i noticed is that since graduation, all the jobs I've had proved me wrong. I'm not a workaholic. I'd rather
not do work when time permits; I try to slack or push work onto someone else. I can sit at the desk counting hours before
going home. and then, there's no time for anything else but a short workout and going to bed.
Why same person has completely different behaviour? what triggers the change? what's the true nature of such a person?
these questions have been possessing my mind for the past few years. all i came to is motivation to grow.
as a student, growth is inevitable, every day we learn something new and challenging, we have deadlines and marks, we're
constantly evaluated and competing with each other. we all know that ahead of us is life full of possibilities and we
gotta move fast in order to succeed.
and when we're at work... it's all the same every day. management is not inspiring us, so we have no motivation to
work harder to get the promotion and be one of them.
there's not much to look forward to. we're barely evaluated and don't set ourselves any goals to strive to, just because
there's no need for it. money will come no matter how much work we do (if you're on salary).
most office jobs are monotonous and aren't very rewarding. there's no movement, just sitting position. Tony Robbins said
emotion comes with motion. student life is all about moving around - running from class to class, from campus to campus,
from event to event. and then extra work - getting there, doing different things every day, switching responsibilities -
isn't this life?
So why is our world designed to work the way it is? why most people sit in boxes 9-5 and then drive home to lay down again?
why everybody is so depressed, even if they don't want to admit it?
we gotta find some passion in life,
something we'd love to devote all of our 9-5 and over time. then time will be our friend. work should not feel like work.
we need to change the way we search for work, the way we get education, the way we approach life.
parents should let their kids find their own vocation in life without being stressed that they'd fail (in art, psychology,
music, etc etc), schools should teach things like motivation, love, helping others, finding passion... when one is
putting focus onto something they desire, it usually becomes reality.
Most souls are lost these days; they don't know what to do with their lives, not sure what their interests are.. i am
that example :(
