Um, another flawless night.
She went all out…going higher on OM, adding some runs to most songs, just singing like a madwoman in general. As soon as she hit the stage for OM, you could just tell she was lovin it…last show, playing at the Ryman. I was close enough to see her when the stage lights turned off; she was jumpin around havin a grand ol' time. Made me smile.
Oh, and the highlights:
OM: "Slowly sinkin IN-TO SOME-THIN blaaa-aaack." Def went high on that one.
"...[my] ass ex."
"My 3 month old nephew is here and I want him. No, I don't like babies like that. I want [him] and then want to give [him] back." She also could've been talking about a niece. But...details.
The crowd busted out the "ohoo ohoo ohohohohs" on HIF. KC noticed the first time and smiled when she heard it.
"This is my last show I'm going to talk as much as I want tonight."
Aben killed it on guitar during "No Bad News."
Was talking about getting the signed Patty Griffin poster…"Ohmigod! …I just sounded valley girl and I'm okay with that."
"Certain people didn't like [BOY]."
and
"Certain people don't know about music...artists do." KC mentioned "artist integrity" and the crowed cheered!
I love the way she said "certain people." The bitter undertones made me all warm and fuzzy inside.
Crowd.
Only a couple crazies.
Needless to say, good ol KC favored our side quite a bit (she tends to do it regardless), but she saw that we knew the words and were into it. She'd be singing and happen to glance our way; then, sure enough, she'd start making her way over.
I think she appreciated the audience for the most part too (and I give props to the security on this one) b/c people were rockin out, but not acting crazy (aka rushing the stage or trying to shove gifts in her face). With the exception of two people. If Kelly already has a bottle of Chivas in her hand, don't run up to the edge of the stage and incessantly wave a bottle of Chivas at her wanting her to take it. Kelly's thought process probably went a little something like this: "Securrrrrityyyy." There were a few other gift attempts by the same folks-one successful. But I was generally embarrassed for them. I was also embarrassed for the 7 people in the first two rows that were sitting. But I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they just had back surgery-all 7 of them…
