Harry walked casually back to the change rooms adjacent to the Quidditch pitch, sighing with satisfaction. The training had gone well, they were sure to win the Quidditch cup with Angelina as their captain. It seemed that she was channelling the spirit of Oliver Wood. The same complicated game plans and a compulsion to torture players.
Now that Ron and Harry were on the team Hermione often sat in the Gryffindor stands finishing homework as she watched. She always stayed until the end, no matter how long the practices dragged on, joining them on their walk back to the common room patiently listening to their ranting about Angelina’s tyranny.
But this time she had disappeared mysteriously halfway through the training, though Harry didn’t think that Ron’s misses were that painful to watch.
Chances were she hadn’t been able to see them anyway;practice had been horribly crowded because it seemed the pitch had been double booked. The Hufflepuffs, either too scared of Angelina to argue, or living up to their pacifistic reputations had proposed the idea of sharing.
In any case, Angelina had probably been too busy drooling over Diggory to actually know what she was agreeing to.
Though now that he thought about it, where had Cedric got too? He had left his team with Hannah Abbott in charge and disappeared. Harry quickly dismissed any suspicions. He was a Hufflepuff, Cedric, and he was doing his N.E.W.T.S., chances were that Diggory had gone off to see Professor Sprout about applications or something.
Harry pushed open the large wooden door to the change rooms and started peeling off his Quidditch uniform when he heard voices. Everyone was gone already. The Hufflepuffs had left early for dinner taking Ron with them and the Gryffindor team had left Harry to pack up the quaffles. No-one was meant to be here.
Harry reached for his wand, and gripping it tightly he walked towards the source of the sounds.
‘We should really stop meeting like this,’ Harry could hear the slightly muffled voice of a girl. ‘We should?’ a deep male voice that Harry could distinguish as that of Cedric Diggory’s.
‘Anyone could have walked in on us,’ the girl laughed, a mix of embarrassment and mischievousness.
‘So?’ Cedric laughed.
‘You know my opinion on public displays of affection,’ the girl replied.
Harry chuckled quietly, this was probably Cedric with his secret girlfriend.
All of Hogwarts was swarming with rumours surrounding Diggory and his new girlfriend. The only problem being that nobody knew who it was. No wonder Cedric looked excited as he left the pitch, he was meeting up with his mystery woman. Harry debated with himself as to whether or not he should make them aware of his presence and decided that he wanted to see for himself who this mystery woman was.
Turning the corner of the lockers he stood dumbstruck, rooted to the spot, horrified at the scene before him.
Pushed up against the wall of the change rooms was Hermione.
Lip-locked with Diggory.
Both of them completely unaware of his presence.
Harry blinked and opened and shut his mouth, resembling a fish, not able to believe his eyes. Right there in front of him were Hermione and Diggory. Engaged in an intense snogging session. Hands I in places they usually wouldn’t be and hips grinding in an extremely sexual manner.
So shocked was the Boy-Who-Lived was that he dropped his wand, his arms falling limp to his sides.
Finally distracted by the sound of Harry’s wand hitting the floor, the couple broke apart heads shooting in his direction both wearing expressions of shock.
‘As you were,’ Harry croaked before bolting from the change rooms.
Cedric laughed.
‘You knew he was coming didn’t you?’ Hermione playfully swatted his arm.
‘No, of course not,’ he replied, ingenuously.
Hermione laughed lightly: ‘So, where were we?’
