Right, please forgive me for being a walking advert here but I've just noticed that Be *utterly* own Virgin Media (death be upon them) in almost every single respect. I mean, there's just nothing to weigh up. They dominate completely. I'm pointing this out mostly because I'm still on a crusade to cost them more money than they ever got out of me. Let me know if you switch.

For starters, even adding the cost of a BT line it's still cheaper to get the 24meg Be package than the 20meg Virgin one on the loss leader discount.

Be: £18/month plus £10.50 for BT = £28.50
Virgin (cable): £29/month going up to "just" £36/month after a year

Be's ahead already. We'll add to this the static IP, free 24/7 support, the lower early cancellation fee and the lack of a minimum contract.

After that we'll get onto reputation. Everyone I know on Be gets the connection they're paying for and are happy. Nearly everyone I know on Virgin gets rate limited to the dark ages the moment they try to actually download a thing.

The only thing that I've spotted so far that might be considered worse for Be is the 3 month notice period, compared to Virgin's 1 month. Since I've had to bail out after 9 months to move flat twice while with Virgin, I think the lack of a 12-month lock-in more than makes up for this.

I am literally agape at the thought that we paid for Virgin ADSL last year (£15/month for 8mbit that was never better than 1mbit and rarely better than 100k). Are they fucking kidding?
