Army of Belly Dancers! - Adderstone says “Adieu” to Two

Dec 29, 2010 15:22

Again the season’s change is upon us & yet again, as if on cue, the organic changes within the troupe come, as well.  With the Winter Solstice / Yule came the longest day and brought forth the new light / rebirth.

I am not sure everyone understood the significance of the date we chose for the final “farewell” to 2 of our lovely sisters.  However, last Wednesday, rather than our regular rehearsal, we gathered as a troupe to celebrate the rebirth of two of our sisters who are moving into the next phase of their lives.

Beth Ann Hinkle (DeathAnn) & Seraphina Fiero have officially retired from Adderstone.
Adderstone’s loss is Hands of Kali’s gain. While each will continue to perform solo, they have joined the lovely Kendra Hayes (Adderstone Founder) & Deidra Johnson (Alumnae of Adderstone) full time.  We expect great things from them all as they move forward into this new adventure

In honesty, while we will miss dancing with each of these ladies under the umbrella of Adderstone, they are, and always will be, part of the family / sisterhood / bonds that have been created over the years.

I could tell stories of so many things: The first time I danced with DeathAnn at Medfest years ago or watching Seraphina do her first solo at a hafla we’d put on at Horizon Oasis; Beer Tribal in the back yard or fire fun on the beach; Memories of pants that wouldn’t stay up or trading hair with a troupe member.  Perhaps I could mention a few of the jokes & the fun that each of these ladies brought to us all.  But . . . there were too many for such a short note . . . &  . . . well . . .

What I will remember & treasure most (& I believe from hearing the ladies speak on Wed that they agree) is watching these lovely ladies grow over the past year and a half, and, in the process, getting to know them / feel close enough to call them sisters in dance, as well as friends.  They have inspired many around them with their words, actions, ambition, kindness, and sense of adventure.

You will both be missed at rehearsal time.  However, this is not “goodbye” as much as “a rebirth” of self into your new endeavor.  As our sister troupe, we know where to find you . . .

Oh, and we know where you live!!  :)
