What my parents could have watched on the day I was born, back when the BBC closed down at night. It was election day, illustrated imaginatively by footage of 'people voting in polling station in Manchester' or 'people walking into polling station in Glamorgan' or 'Voters going in Polling stations at IPSWICH.' In other news, 'Plymouth hospitals have decided to use carrier pigeons to transport blood samples to laboratories which are several miles away.'
