  • The Spice of Life, that bland pub on London's Cambridge Circus, has a wonderful basement venue where they keep the lights on and the sound isn't drowned in bass. We discovered that The Rumble Strips are starting a Dexy's Midnight Runners revival. This is happening without your permission.
  • Prom 11: Bernstein/Ives/Stravinsky. The Albert Hall's restored organ failed and was replaced by a synthesizer for Ives' symphony. Stravinsky's most famous work is being performed on August 16 and my friend proposed a re-enactment of the Riot of Spring. Join us!
  • We promenaded at midnight to Deptford's scuzziest basement. I apologise to anyone who might have seen me dancing to 'Love Will Tear Us Apart', and to anyone who didn't and must now dispel that mental image.
  • Thanks to atommickbrane and publicansdecoy for organizing another LiveJournal Scrabble tournament in Green Park this afternoon. Playing Scrabble in French is no handicap for the formidable verlaine: he even found a bingo, SECONDE (with FAUTEUILS). Now those are what I call bons mots.
