Ozaki - Issun - Toshio's in an "everybody's irresponsible and sucks besides me" mode; oh, sure, he's pointedly avoiding making headway on his own vampire problem by pulling a Hamlet, but the difference is that HE'S sweating it! Issun seems to be involved in something that's as big as the stars themselves, but he's a flippant artist who thinks of things through such lofty views as the gods and religion...! ... is what he'd like to think, but he does have a rational side. That Issun can view things from the more broad perspective, seeing the world as a round, fluid existence is similar to his best friend who, despite siding with the Okiagari to this point, is still respectable if not dear to him. It's admirable that he can see hope in even Kefka. But at the same time, he's sure principles are better debated and judged when there aren't lives on the line; lives are always on the line with Kefka.

Dead Master - She was virused. What's his excuse? If nothing else, seeing himself as a worse person certainly puts her in a better relief; his concern now is borne from his embodiment of Newton's first law of motion: he will not go into motion unless forced, and once on a path, he will neither stop nor change direction until forced. It's a type of sloth born of fear. He can depend on her for the fighting, probably (and Kefka, but he'd really rather not), but what if he miscalculates, any and all collateral damage is his fault. Kefka's gung-ho to get into action, which only further leaves Ozaki thinking there's going to be a lamentable backlash to exercising the powerful fighters placed in his control.

That said, he's mostly been thinking of her in terms of a tool. He's gotten to that point with almost everybody now, which is leading to jackassitude as most people are "useless." The warrior part of her is a tool. There's another part that he almost used, though, and facing that reality of her as a person is now terrifying for what it means for him as a person.

Greed - He's moody. He honestly doesn't mind being called easy, and he doesn't even mind the lack of gratitude for the entire affair unless he's just put into a mood where he suddenly has a use for gratitude or higher esteem from everybody in general. Hell, he is easy, and he was being mostly self-serving, though not so much to endear himself to her as to feel like he's living freely by doing what he wants regardless of the rules of propriety, worldly limitations, etc.

He actually has rather minimal interest in sex with her, but that's just the way he tends to interact with girls he doesn't have much else to talk about with. He's not highly invested in her as a person either, but he does want to see her socialized and getting those little pleasures in life he's convinced she's missing: as Greed sees it, she's actually quite entrenched in the idea of deep, meaningful social bonds, which is new from his prior perceptions of her. But the shallow world of fair weathered friends, surface-shallow connections and cheap thrills isn't something he thinks she should be without, either.

AHHH. Thank you for taking the time to write this up! I love all Ozaki and Greed threads. Even if the Ozaki/DM ones are now 'oh god, why do I put him through this'. But he'll only think of her as a loli, huh?

I enjoy the sound of my own voice keys.... tapping?

It's not that Ozaki thinks of her as a loli so much as someone who would not normally want to be having sexy times with him, whom he almost did it with anyway because... well, it's the because that's a tangled web, but if I had to pick a single word to describe it, I'd go with laziness. Too lazy NOT to sleep with someone.

Then I appreciate you liking the sound of your keys tapping, Greedmun-sensei!!!

More laziness than actual temptation, huh? Poor doc. ;.; Believe me, she feels bad, too.

Laziness also includes being too lazy to beat down base temptation, both physical and psychosocial, which is why he feels so sick with himself over it all. It isn't as if he's chronically, tragically lonely, he's not an Evangelion character; it's plain old ennui. Greed loves and thrives on fleeting connections of convenience, business and entertainment; Ozaki sees them as an inescapable fact of a social species. It could be called Sotoba Syndrome, for how common it is amongst the human mains in Shiki.
