Home Economics Project Report. Part II

Part One can be found here.

Hyde seemed to enjoy its time in Study Hall yesterday. I have to admit that I decided to attend simply to see what having it in an open setting would be like. It didn't occasion much notice or comment, save from Duce.

Duce offered to babysit, as I mentioned before, but she took Hyde while I was making up my missed Biology classwork. As an exercise in individuality and socialization, I asked Duce to give Hyde a henna design as well as let it socialize with other children until I finished my classwork and could come to pick it up.

I took Hyde to Sociology class, wherein we learned to play a video game called 'Silent Hill'. My parents would not have approved of the amount of mindless violence, I am afraid. The main character whose role you were required to assume barely knew the creatures he was killing. I do not think that Hyde enjoyed it as much as I did, as it fell asleep halfway through the first ten minutes. This is probably for the best. There was not enough time to finish the game. In fact, I'm uncertain of how much I actually accomplished. I must ask Duce about video games as my knowledge is apparently woefully inadequate.

Pugsley might like a copy of this game for his birthday.

After class, I took it for a long walk, although it slept through most of that as well. Duce noted that Hyde hadn't been hungry, so I tried feeding it again. The formula didn't disappear as quickly as the pureed vines, but Hyde didn't seem to object to it, either. After another trip to the conservatory and walk-through of the Manor, we went home.

I read my Abnormal Psychology and Biology texts aloud again, but I'm not certain it had any effect. I did some research and apparently babies like the sound of a voice reading aloud. I'm not certain if the same applies to eggs, but I also read my Sociology homework aloud and that seemed to help.

Note: If Hyde doesn't eat in the afternoon, it requires two extra feedings at night.

Further note: I am very pleased to report that eggs don't cry, although Hyde does stare at one rather disconcertingly. I couldn't go back to sleep after the second feeding so I made it a little black bunny suit. Mother's insistence on various, more frivolous needlework is suddenly beginning to make sense.

I made a trip to the Manor nursery this morning and found a few picture books which I think might make more suitable reading for Hyde.

I am planning on taking Hyde to Study Hall again this morning before Biology class. I have packed a lunch and a dinner as Hyde seems to prefer fresh air and I shall take it for another walk this evening after class.
