About Me: I'm a 21 (nearly 22) year old asexual genderqueer person. If you have any questions about what that means in general, or what it means to me, please feel free to comment and ask. I live in Michigan with my parents and our nine pets. I go to a small university. My major is Social Work, and I'm considering a Sociology minor thanks to my amazing Intro to Sociology Professor. I'm an introvert. I have social anxiety disorder and depression. I have very liberal political views, but I generally have a live and let live policy. I have no interest in changing your mind on something we disagree upon. I expect the same kind of respect from others.
About My Journal: So far, my journal is pretty sparse. I only created it recently, so there isn't much there. I can tell you my plans for my journal, however! I will have my personal entries, those will be friends only. And then I will have my writing entries, which will be public. I hope to update every day, ideally. And I want to publish some kind of fiction or poetry once a week, at the very least. I also may post pictures. Oh! And I will write about being asexual, though that will mostly be on my formal blog.
What I Write: So far, poetry and Harry Potter fanfiction. I really, really want to start writing original fiction, though. I've attempted it a couple of times, but out of either some sense of insecurity or perfectionism, I'm not sure which, I've abandoned most of my efforts. However, I am determined to write and post original fiction.
What I Don't Write: Non-fiction stuff, unless you count Poetry as non-fiction. You also won't fine a lot of romance oriented stuff, and most likely, no smut at all. While I enjoy a good smutty story once in a while, I just don't enjoy writing that sort of stuff.
How Did I Get Into Writing?: By reading, I suppose. I've always loved to read, and even before I could read, I loved books. I was always putting together little storybooks out of paper and string when I was a kid. And I've always wanted to be a writer, ever since I can remember. My serious writing attempts started when I was about 13 with really bad Harry Potter fanfiction filled with Mary Sue's, I'm embarrassed to admit. I've evolved so much since then. Still, I've always been hesitant to post my writing online, mostly because I'm very sensitive to criticism. Basically, I decided that I have to get over that.
What I Read: Anything and everything! But seriously, I have a fondness for Fantasy and Sci-Fi. I love alternative fiction. And I love to read about social justice issues and things like that. Unfortunately, I don't read as much as I would like. I hope to change that in the coming year.
What I Don't Read: Romance. Bodice Rippers. Twilight (I have no issues with Twilight Fans, just the series itself.).
Could I Edit Someone Else's Work?: I've never done it before, but sure! I'd be glad to give it a try. And I'm always glad to offer feedback.
What I'm Looking For: Friends, of course! Twitter followers, tumblr followers (I'll follow back, of course!), people to talk to over Skype or Yahoo IM. The occasional comment or feedback on the writing I post would be most welcome, as well.
