Name: Shannon. Also go simply by 'newfound,' since that's a name I use online frequently. No reason I chose 'newfound' aside from the fact that I like the way the word sounds. :)

About me: I'm so bad about talking about myself. But, um... I'm bisexual (or whatever you wanna call it, I don't generally like to label it since it's just so... unlabelable. Which is now a word. Hush). I draw when I can, because I like to illustrate the characters I portray in original writing. Also, watercolor? Insanely ridiculously fun to me, even though I'm not very good at it. I've worked with clay before as well, and I've made jewelry out of both beads and wire. Obviously I write, because otherwise I wouldn't be here. :P I cook/bake a lot too, because I find it bizarrely relaxing - mostly baking desserts, because, y'know, they're desserts and are yummy. I enjoy watching some TV shows and, as I've found out recently, some animes. TV shows I like include Supernatural (early seasons in particular), Glee, 24, and I've started watching Torchwood, Dexter, and a few others. I'm not all that picky, actually. Doesn't matter what genre something is, if it catches my interest I'll watch/read it. I also like video games. And, lastly, to not sound like I never go outside, I like hiking and just being outside period, preferably outside of the city because the city is all crowded and hot and ew.
About my journal: This journal started out as a sock puppet account and kinda still is, but I've been finding myself using this journal more and more than my "main" one. I'm really shy about sharing my writing with people I know irl, so I figured that I'd share it with people I don't know and make friends based on interests in writing and more. So far barely anything is posted in my journal, just one fan fic, but I plan to change that.
What I write: Both original and fan fiction. I write in many genres: horror, fantasy, supernatural, comedy, some romance... and a mix of those all together. I also include kink/bdsm/erotica in some of my stories, so... be warned if you read my stuff, although I always include the appropriate warnings with that stuff so people aren't surprised by it.
What I don't write: I don't like to write about myself, ever, if I can avoid it. I'm bad at it, and sound like a bore when I do. You can tell that from this little blurb here. :P It's pretty much a case-by-case thing, though. I can say for sure though that I don't write poetry, because I'm horrible at it.
What I read: Anything, if it's written well. I especially like fantasy/supernatural stuff. I particularly like George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire, the Harry Potter books, Patricia Brigg's writing, the Bartimaeus Trilogy, Neil Gaiman's writing (especially Neverwhere, loved that), the Cal Leandros books, um... and a lot of other stuff. I don't want to get long winded here.
Could I critique someone's work: Possibly. If they had a couple of other people also reading, then yes, so that the writer could cross reference and see if I'm being unrealistic in critiquing.
What I'm looking for: Friends. They don't have to read my work, and if they do, they don't have to like it. Don't have to have the same interests either, since I can't even completely list mine here. Just anybody who's willing to talk and get to know each other and make a stay at LJ more enjoyable. :)
