Name: Bri
Age: 19
About Me: For the most part, I’m a rather boring person on paper and until I get to know someone better I can be rather reclusive. I’m trying to meet new people and become friendlier. I’m a sophomore in college, majoring in Anthropology and with a minor in French. Don’t ask what I plan to do with that. I really don’t know; it just interests me. I’ve been writing since I was seven and it pretty much defines me. I hope to be published someday, but in the meantime I’m just honing the craft.
Location: If you searched my profile, you could fine it, but I’m not comfortable making it that easy.
Interests: Writing, music, dance, God, and drawing. Drawing has become more interesting to me, more recently since I’ve learned how to do so on the computer.
TV/Anime: I don’t watch TV anymore, but I do follow some series on Hulu. They are The Gates (love it!), Brothers and Sisters (love it!), Fringe, Haven (I don’t like it, but I still watch it; don’t ask), Lie to Me, and The Good Guys (ridiculous, but funny). I don’t really watch anime anymore, unless I’m feeling nostalgic. I used to follow Yu Yu Hakusho, Inuyasha, Fullmetal Alchemist, and Rurouni Kenshin.
Music: My music interest range from country (Tim McGraw, etc.) to rock (Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Crossfade, etc.) to power ballads (Journey, Scorpions, Poison, etc.) to symphonic metal (Nightwish, Lacuna Coil, Krypteria, etc.) to R&B (Alicia Keys, Jason Derulo, etc.) to some pop (Lady Gaga, Kings of Leon, etc.) to even a bit of rap (Jay Z, T.I, etc.).
Movies: I’m not really a movie person. I saw The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and Despicable Me, recently and I’m sure I’ve seen some other things, but I, generally, forget the moment I step out of the theater. Favorites (or movies that I like enough to remember) are Stardust, The Lake House, Constantine, and Vampire Hunters (B-rated, but awesome in its awfulness)
Books: I don’t generally read ‘classics,’ but I’ve never been the type to like something just because the masses say it’s a good read. I’m willing to try anything by James Patterson, even if lately I’ve been burned. Genius books by Catherine Jinks are a new favorite. Ed Greenwood’s Band of Four series was good. Terry Goodkind’s Sword of Truth was not, but I still read all 11! of them, but not the prequel because that was ridiculous. I like Lynsay Sands’s vampire romance novels; it has a cool twist to the whole vampire thing, but recently I’ve been wary of reading romance novels; I’m getting tired of all the sex. I read half of the Harry Potter books and stopped. I read Twilight and stopped. In both, I found the main characters hard to relate to. I’ll just leave it at that.
About My Journal: Writing, writing, and writing. It’s either about writing or some of my work.
What I Write: I’ve always been in original fiction, but a few years ago I dabbled in fanfiction (Yu Yu Hakusho and Inuyasha) and am trying to finish those stories. My genres of choice are Fantasy (urban and ‘traditional’) and Romance, preferably a mix of the two. I write slash occasionally, but I really just consider that a part of romance (I'm not trying to make a statement by it; I just think it's cute).
What I Don't Write: Science Fiction (but not for lack of trying), Mystery (considered it briefly though), Poetry *shudders* (more power to people who actually make it work), Erotica, Humor (I’m not as funny on paper), and Nonfiction.
What I Read: I try to avoid anything that looks like it has a sad ending. I’m all for angst as long as it all works out in the end. I have a slight aversion to female protagonists, but I’m trying not to discriminate. Emphasis on trying.
Could I Edit Someone's Work: I’d love to; though it’s mostly for actual story content (character and plot development) rather than syntax. Grammar occasionally eludes me, but I could catch glaring errors.
What I'm Looking For:. Anyone who thinks he/she have something in common with me. I want to actually be friends, not just bulk up my friend list, so I’d like for someone to comment on my journal entries and vice-versa. Nanowrimo friends are always a plus.
*EDIT* Wow. That was big.
