Hello, I think this is my 4th post (but don't quote me on that, I could be wrong).
I decided to document May 30th because there was going to be a little welcome party at my school for the new students (mind you my school is extremely small so there's only 3 new students this quarter), we were going to have a baby shower for my sister at my parent's restaurant and then I took a bus to Puerto Vallarta to meet my friend Raquel and her dad Raúl who were there for the weekend. I also documented that day but I will post it next week (so as to follow the community rules).
Dayna, 24, Guadalajara, México
I really did not feel like waking up.
I'm not a morning person, not at all.
I go turn the water heater on and check on the clothes I hand washed the previous day. Almost all of them were dry!
I was running late so no pictures of me getting ready but this is me heading out the door.
Drive by the very first McDonald's we had in Guadalajara back in the 80's.
I got to school and had my English-Spanish Translation class but forgot to take pictures. Like 10 minutes before it was over, we were told to go to the patio for a little welcome party for the new students. There was cake and jello and soda.
Adrián, Alejandra and Paulina, they're all in the 3rd quarter.
Yudzil, Nadia (6th quarter), Ashley (11th quarter), Cinthia (French teacher), Denisse (English teacher) and Anne Marie (French teacher).
Marcela, César, Marisa, Andrea and Arturo (french teacher).
Laurita (teacher), Adriana, Mike, Xenia, Faby, Elena and Cynthia
The new students. I don't know their names yet though. Oooops!
Time to play games!
Party was over and we're back in class. Those are Israel and Cynthia, my 2 classmates.
And this is my French-Spanish translation teacher.
Class is over! Time check.
I was in a hurry because I needed to get home, shower and get ready for the baby shower so I didn't take pictures while riding the bus. It was too crowded anyway. Home "sweet" home. We're moving out of this place in about 2 weeks!
Watch some Ugly Betty while the water heater did its thing. I absolutely LOVED this episode.
I'm good to go! Waiting for mom to come get me.
On our way to the gas station/bank.
The ATM thanks me for using it.
And I go meet mom at the gas station.
On our way to our restaurant.
We're there! There's mom and Nadia (she goes to my school and also works for us on weekends and special events) setting things up.
My very pregnant sister working on the centerpieces.
Food! The only food I ate that day =/ Tacos de carne asada with baby onions and a grilled yellow pepper, stuffed with chihuahua cheese and beans of course :)
Centerpieces.
Me and Nadia. For some reason all our customers think we're sisters or at least related. Weird!
The raspado guy! It's been very hot lately so we thought it'd be a good idea to hire this man and give our guests a free raspado (ice shavings with different flavors of natural syrup). Everyone loved the idea!
The ones who did show up on time.
I go to the kitchen to get some cucumbers and jícama (also great when it's hot out) and find Nadia and Sara making fun of Giorgio who was having a hard time lifting that big water jug.
My raspado. Strawberry with lechera (thick and very rich/sweet milky syrup). My sister's very round belly being rubbed.
My sister's husband's family. 3 aunts, his mom, one cousin, one sister in law and one nephew.
Berenice, Brenda, Jenny, Estefanía and Alondra. The first 4 are like our sisters, we've known them for about 20 years.
My sister and all the stuff she got :) Not bad!
I can't wait to meet my little nephew!
My aunt Carmela (one of dad's many sisters), my aunt Lorena (married one of dad's brothers) and my mom.
Playing Lotería but instead of having the usual items, it had things babies use and such.
My friends Mirna and Rosy. Mirna is due the same day as my sister.
Playing the "guess how big her belly is" game.
Someone went a little overboard!
We have a winner!
Now the "suck the beer out of that bottle" game!
I think her kids had sad something funny.
My sister with some of her co-workers.
Her friend Adriana and her daughter Luciana. I LOVE her!
The family minus my brother who lives in Tijuana (he wouldn't have been there anyway, dad was just there because he was working :p).
This is Paulina and her dad Pablo. He started going to the restaurant back in the 80's. I LOVE his daughter, she's so polite and proper and just awesome! She calls my parents "grandma and grandpa" :) They went to play cards and have some drinks while they waited for the mom/wife to get out of work.
This is my teacher Julien and his friend. They also decided to show up that night for dinner. They got a bit drunk after 6 beers and 2 tequila shots hehe.
Party is over and Nadia is exhausted.
I start helping mom with the stuff she usually does
And run home so I can pack my stuff to go to the beach!
Put some pants on and a sweatshirt because the A/C is usually on high on buses.
Time check.
At the bus station with mom.
And we're leaving! We left at 2 am.
Then I fell asleep but it was so dark that I couldn't take a picture but you're not missing out on anything :p
I hope you enjoyed it! I look forward to posting my June 1st in Puerto Vallarta :)
