..meet Sara.
I've always wanted a turtle! Okay, so here's the story. We found her in the ocean today, which makes sense because this is about when turtle eggs hatch. Anyway, the whole family was wrapped up in this huge debate of if we should keep her or put her in the bay with the other turtles. Obviously, I wanted to keep her. I did some research online and found out that if you find a hatchling, like she is, you are supposed to keep them for at least a year. By putting them back in the bay you can harm them, not to mention most of them don't make it there without dying or being caught by another animal. So, now I have my very own diamond back terrapin! She is very cute. I bought her a little house today at the store and I will get her a bigger one when she gets bigger. She should only grow to about 3 or 4 inches when she is a year old. Once they are 4 the girls are 7.5 inches and the boys are 5. I don't know if she is a girl or a boy yet, but the Sea Isle City mascot is Sara the turtle, so I'm thinking positive here. I will def. keep you all updated on Sara.
I love my new pet! And the ocean of course. Oh, and sidewalk sales in Stone Harbor!
