First, see if you can sit down with your GM and talk about her completely removing you from the schedule without talking to you about it. It's always a shitty thing when people do that. Sure, you might end up hearing about how you came off as unreliable and other things, but it'll give you a chance to stick it to her for at least not being courtious enough to talk to you about it.
As far as the friends at work thing, I don't know exactly what to say, since I wasn't there and don't know how things went down. If they are getting irked at having you being above them (and potentially giving them orders) when just a month ago you were in the same shoes they are, they fuck them. If you were doing your job, that's what matters. Granted, if you were being an ass about it, then you might want to watch that, but otherwise, you're the Lead, sometimes you have to do whatever to get shit done. I'm sure some people are kinda irked with me taking assistant because like a week ago I was on the same playing field as them and now I have to write them up and tell them to tuck in their shirt and shit like that, but you have to do what you have to do.
Was it bad for you to show up late twice? Yeah, probably so. What you might suggest doing (if you still want the Lead job anyway) is asking your GM if you can do a probational period for like 2 weeks or something and if you screw up again, you're demoted. Second chance kinda thing. She may go for it, she may not. Another thing which I've found has helped me when it comes to waking up early after a late night closing or whatever is to set my regular alarm, then set my cell phone's 3 alarms for 5 minute intervals afterwards. That way, even if I hit the regular alarm, there's still 3 more annoying ass noises that can wake me up.
