I will be moving to Kyoto at the end of March.
As of yet I have no idea how close i'll be able to come to my ideal apartment. But i'm pretty sure i will be able to afford something better than a shithole. A mudpit maybe?
Actually, i had a great and brief conversation with the guy who will probably end up being my supervisor. He said that not only is he willing to be my guarantor (necessary for any person renting in Japan, not only foreigners), but that he will personally help me go looking for apartments. Not only that, but the company i will be working for is willing to give me an advance on my salary, if necessary, to cover moving expenses and deposits and the like.
That will make my apartment search SO MUCH easier.
Relief (somewhat, anyway) is mine.
