I looked at her and she at me
All right, I wasn't looking forward to a seminar in early(ish) US Prose, but I have to admit I find some of this rather amusing. For example:
"Oh, papa, don't! You talk most horridly when you get started on certain subjects."
"My conversation isn't half pungent enough to do justice to the perfume of the subject."
I also think the adverb "interiorly" (as in, "interiorly it consisted of four rooms on each floor,") is adorable.
