Title: Unbreakable Authors: bsg_aussiegirl and bugs Summary: While out on the town, murder finds the Adamses! Rating: T Genre: AU, Adventure, Romance A/N: For sln1, on the occasion of her birthday.
Late to my own party, how shockingly impolite of me.
I hardly know what to say, girls, birthdays are usually complete non-events for me but this surprise story has made the day feel truly special. Thank you very much.
You have done a great job of evoking the right mood for this AU through the perfectly judged dialogue and the attention to detail while the essence of the characters as we know them remains intact.
I like the idea of Bill in a dinner jacket, am scandalised by Laura's dress, love her driving and Bill's dislike of cars and find it completely convincing that Saul would fail to live up to the chivalrous example naturally set by Bill. A jazz band, some dancing and Ellen Tigh meeting sticky end - sounds like a great night out to me!
Nicely done. Thank you again for such an unexpected and delightful birthday treat.
Our convo was so funny about what to write for you. Bugs said 'it's easy to write for you, Aus, just a bit of Kobol smut and you're happy'. I tried not to take it the wrong way. *snort*
We originally wanted to write something with an English feel, but decided it's better to stick with something we can at least have some idea if we're getting the details right or not (bugs used to live in SF).
I'm glad you enjoyed this chapter, because we had enormous fun writing it.
Thanks for being such a great supporter of ar_drabbles.

To be honest I couldn't easily pin down my own fic preferences (except the aversion to graphic hanky panky and babyfic of course) so it was very game of you and Bugs to try at all! Just as well to write a setting you are comfortable with the references for too and you actually managed to pick a city I remember with great fondness from my one visit twenty years ago so I certainly won't bemoan the lack of Englishness. (Play your cards right and sometime soon I will post a 100 word drabble I wrote last year which crosses AR with something quintessentially English.)
Being part of the ar_drabbles community has really enhanced my life and never more so than on my birthday. Thanks again for this wonderful present.

Surprise parties are a bit hard to pull off online. We can't just hide in the dark of your house! :D
We're so glad you enjoyed the opening salvo, but don't feel you have to keep up if it's too much for you. Just take pride if inspiring us on yet another adventure.
And we swear, we'll keep with the Hayes Code! No explicit sex! (Or when we do, it'll be a separate story kept in its own closet)
I think I may have lost Aussie there when I said we should write any sexy times like it was being shot under the Hayes Code, so one foot on the floor at all times.
Bill can tell Laura that's how sailors make love on the rocky seas. *snort*
'Surprise parties are a bit hard to pull off online. We can't just hide in the dark of your house! :D'
Given that you, Aussie and I are all in different time zones I think it all worked out extremely well. None of our other guests have complained either, far from it in fact.
I will do my utmost to keep up with this, I should at least manage to read it but if I don't comment on every chapter I know you understand that it is not ingratitude. If nothing else now I will feel a certain obligation to police 'Unbreakable' and, if necessary, enforce the Hayes Code. Mind you that whole 'one foot on the floor at all times' business was clearly taken wholesale from the rules of snooker which does beg the question as to whether there was also mention of 'potting the pink'. Did I just say that? Yes, yes I did. I must be high on birthday cake.
Thanks again for giving me a birthday to remember.

Your willingness to read darn near everything is appreciated by all of us!
Yay, you've been to the city by the bay! I think it's perfect for murder mysteries, because it's a group of small villages, so it's just like any English cozy mystery.

Oh, we understand completely. Take your time when/if you have the time.
