The results of a couple of surveys certainly shows how differently the U.S. sees Israel in comparison to the rest of the world.

Gallup poll in America.

BBC World Service poll.

It's no surprise knowing how Americans only see one side of this conflict. When there is a suicide bombing American media never stops showing news footage but when it's ( Read more... )

I'm sure there are a lot of things very wrong with America, but certainly most people don't understand what's really going on at all. That poll is very interesting, and so sad. The US is such a negative influence in the world, and that's a horrible choice that Bush has made for all of us.

I also find it sad that the negative really has taken over all the positives roles America plays in the world but then so often the positive things seems equally to do with self interest. That's not to say that all the positives are out of self interest but it seems to be individuals not in political circles who are doing good things for the right reasons. Maybe someone like Susan Sarandon needs to take over running America.

I'd vote for her in a heartbeat! Of course, at this rate, Hank Hill could get my vote!

Only if we needed someone to speak to a Spanish speaking country or entertain by baking her Brown Betty or making Spa-peggy and meatballs. ;-)

She sounds perfect with all those immigrants coming over to do the slave work for a pittance that bother some assholes so much. ;-)

I read something the other day that indicated illegal immigrants pay $6,000,000,000/year in taxes and social security (because they supply fake social security numbers so they get these deductions taken automatically until some bureaucrat figures out that it's a fake number in a few years, if ever). So anyone who thinks that they're a "drain" on our economic system is only getting part of the story. Frankly, I think our economy would collapse without them.

I'm sure it would collapse because food prices would rocket without people working for such small amounts. No way would they find enough Americans to do that work. It would be much better to give people work visas to come and go because most would be happy working in America but then going home to their family. America would get the best of both worlds and so would they because those small wages make them pretty wealthy back in Mexico and beyond. It would be nice if they got some healthcare in return for those tax dollars too. It's amazing how simple the problem is but what a fuss most people make of it, isn't it?

Indeed. It also amazes me how many people think that immigrants (illegal or not) "steal" jobs from Americans who wouldn't do that kind of work anyway. People everywhere are just looking for a better life, and these immigrants are willing to work for it- a lesson many Americans should learn.

That's very true. I always used to hear the same in England and to a lesser extent here or I'd hear complaints about immigrants getting rich. Some do but only through working their asses off but most continue to live in poverty doing the shitty jobs no one else wants.
