OMG.

Okay, it is true that Adam is relatively new on the music scene, but he advanced on Idol. He went on the Idols Live! tour, despite protests from religious groups. He did a video for The Trevor Project, he has raised money for charities and always has been proud of being gay, never hiding anything and being open and honest about his personal life.

Besides, haters gonna hate.

It's like Adam himself has said - he cannot win in the gay community. Either he is too gay, or not gay enough. Either he doesn't do enough for the gay community or he flaunts his gayness in everyone's face all the time.

As far as I'm concerned, Mr. Kent is a complete idiot. I doubt he has ever even met Adam or listened to his music. If he had met Adam, he would know how absolutely wonderful Adam is, what a fantastic ambassador he makes for the gay community. Also, if he had done even a smidgen of research on Adam, he would know just how much Adam has actually done for the gay community. Mr. Kent is an asshat with serious issues.

There's always someone who protests like this when a person they deem 'unworthy' is selected. It's almost word-for-word what happened with Lance Bass - and Adam is a much more obvious award recipient than Lance was. I suspect it's something to do with being the 'wrong kind' of entertainer, in the objector's eyes. Bah.
