this is what Paris is for

Today was really cool. I finished my art critique this morning and headed to art history final, which I destroyed, thank you very much. And then comes the best part of my day:

Brittany's violin teacher out here plays for Palais Garnier, aka, the Paris Opera House. You know, the one from Phantom of the Opera. Anyway, this place is freaking cool as hell, so Brittany asked if he would take us on a little tour of the place. So tonight, Brittany, Messay, and I took a private, behind the scenes, run-away-from-people-so-they-don't-see-you tour backstage the Paris Opera house...unbelievable. I was walking along the catwalks, silently mind you, about 4 floors above the stage, looking down where the "phantom" looks down...incredible. I got to see the inner workings of the theater, including the original, huge, wooden turn wheels used to lift sets back in the day. It was so effing awesome. Then, we snuck downstairs to see the lake under the opera house...yes, it really does exist. We had to be really quiet because we weren't allowed down there, but we went anyway. Of course, the lake is nothing like the movie, as the movie exaggerates a lot, but it was still really effing cool. No one is ever going to be able to take the same tour I took today. It was simply unbelievable, and quite frankly, one of the highlights of my time here in Paris.
