For an Album on sale @ $13.99:
$4.99 goes to the Label (marketing expenses, corporate overhead, lawyers, label staff, real estate, video costs, etc)
$0.85 goes to Publishing (usual rate of $0.08 per song)
$1.80 goes to Artist Royalties
$2.65 goes to Distribution/Manufacturing
$2.50 goes to the Retailer
and $1.20 goes to Returns/Misc.
For a record on sale for $11.99, out of that two dollar lower price,
$0.75 to $1.00 came from the record label, and $1.00 to $1.25 came from the retailer.
