To Catch a Predator.

I watched MSNBC's 'To Catch a Predator' tonight. Yeah, I thought it was crap.

How do they get away with it anyway? Isn't it a form of Entrapment? I know that police officers can pose as hookers to catch potential John's, but only after money is paid for sex can there be an arrest. These guys haven't done anything yet except talk about sex in a chatroom. Is that considered Solicitation of a Minor? How the hell do you prove that? Since when could words written on the Internet be legally presented as proof of malicious intent?

It seems like these self-righteous do-gooders could be using their time better catching the real predators, the guys that know how to avoid these kinds of traps, the guys that go after 5 year olds instead of 15 year olds, the real evil motherfuckers. Those are the guys that take the first step, not the shy saps that wander into a chatroom an get reeled into a sting operation. And I think there is a HUGE difference between a teenager and a child, and also a HUGE difference in the kind of man that goes after a teenager as opposed to a child.

These poor bastards probably don't even have criminal records. And they're lead on by someone who is posing, LYING, about their age and their intentions. These are guys that probably think about underage girls when they're in the bathroom during 'alone time' and then feel ashamed and shitty about it afterwards. If not for 'To Catch a Predator,' I doubt most of these guys would ever even make a move. I seriously feel sorry for them when that fake-looking host guy walks out like he's judge, jury, and executioner on a crusade to save all the helpless naive little teenage girls in the world. You know, the same helpless naive little teenage girls that memorize all the moves to "I'm A Slave 4 U" and wear halter tops to 3rd period history class.

Yeah, the law says that trying to get it on with an underage chick is a bad thing. The reasoning I suppose is that teenagers can't think for themselves and don't really know what sex is yet and if they have sex it will ruin their lives forever. And since teenage sex is bad, then adult/teenage sex must be worse, because if the law says teenagers don't know what sex is, then that must mean an adult who knows what sex is (simply by virtue of being an adult) MUST be taking advantage of the teenager. According to the law anyway. Nevermind that 100 years ago, if a girl wasn't married by 16 and pregnant by 18, that was what was considered odd.

I dunno. That show is just shady somehow. I never liked 'Cops' much either.
