One Bad Egg has released a free preview of the
Gods of the Shroud. Check it out.
Gods of the Shroud is the first OBE product to which I contributed writing, though none of it is in the preview -- you'll have to wait for the actual product to read about the two gods I created. One of mine, the Torchbearer, is the ultimate "points of light" goddess. She is the goddess of the light in the darkness, the lantern that leads you home to safety. The other of mine, the Umbral Claw, is a giant disembodied hand made out of Shroudstuff. It is the patron god of murderers and torturers.
I only wrote two of the gods, but I contributed a sort of parable that is highlighted at the beginning of the booklet, and I did a lot of rewriting while I edited. This was one of the rougher pieces, since I had to take the contributions of five or six creative people and make the text stick together as if it had been written by a single voice. That was a challenge and I hope I pulled it off. Fred created all the monsters and magic items, I think. The other authors created the deity concepts and the cleric power for each, though Fred adjusted those quite a bit to make them work better.
I like this product a lot. The ideas are fresh and fun. There are lots of evil deities and heroic-tier monsters that DMs can use, and there are interesting deities and magic items for players to use. Go take a peek at the free preview and buy the product when it comes out, which should be around November 19!
