I owe a more detailed account of my GenCon trip but, for now, l will only brag about how much booty I brought home.

I got to watch Don, JoAnna, Allee, and Nathan play Annalise (and I occasionally tossed in ideas, too). I really want to play it with my home group. Tales of the Fisherman's Wife and It's Complicated were the two demos that so awed me that I bought the games immediately thereafter. Both are extremely elegant in play and Tales is also beautiful and evocative.
Grey Ranks won the 2008
Indie RPG Award and also shares the top spot on the 2008
Diana Jones Award with Wolfgang Bauer's
Open Design. Congratulations!
I read Things We Think about Games on the plane home. It's a great book. So much of it pisses me off and gets me thinking about what I would have said instead. That's not a bad thing. I agreed with much of it, too, but disagreeing only made me think harder. If you design games, you must own this book.
More later!
