Okay, so I submitted
Hellball to the
Iron MACE Game Chef last Thursday. I was supposed to drive down to MACE with
drivingblind on Friday afternoon but my stupid cat decided to
go on an adventure and I spent ten hours looking for him. He
came back on his own at about 6 AM, thank god. In any case, I didn't get to go to MACE. Grumble.
But I am told that Hellball won the Iron Game Chef competition, so I am happy about that!
Apparently I had only two other competitors. It looks like five or six other people entered the contest and most of them dropped out. I know
drivingblind had to drop out for a more important opportunity. Mark Causey didn't finish his but he entered his game
Spin Til Dawn anyway. There was only one other entrant, Tobe, whom I don't know from anywhere.
Mark picked out a big pile of loot for me and
drivingblind has it. I'll have to arrange to pick it up some time.
So, competing is fun. It'd be more fun if there were more competitors, of course. I don't know that I could produce a better game than Fred or Mark if they had more time, but I'd definitely welcome the competition. I guess that's why I'm a bit bummed at the way the Reversed Engineer contest fizzled. Basically, the contest was billed as having two judging rounds. The top six entries would be the finalists and then everyone would vote on the winner from those six. Kevin got too busy to finish and he just ended it at the finals and called all six of us winners. Yeah, nice but... I just feel left in limbo on that one.
I really do appreciate the effort Kevin put in but how long does it take to collect and count 39 votes? Hell, have people cast their vote publicly in a forum and then anyone can tally it. I just feel like he stopped a foot from the finish line. I do realize at some level I'm being petty and should just shut up.
