I plan to arrange for the international availability of television series The Myth Within which I am the producer of, which is due to be released in Hungary on DVD in the autumn of 2006, and for this I need your help ( Read more... )

Since it's on DVD, I think it would be nice to have an English dubbed option available, but would prefer to have the default be the source language with subtitles.

I Was Honest, And I Put 'No' For If I'd Buy It. I Fully Plan To Buy One, But I Plan To Buy One Because you Made It. A Documentary Set Of DVDs Wouldn't Catch My Attention, I Don't Buy A Lot Of DVDs.

It sounds To Me Like A Good Target Market Would Be Libraries, Like Those On A College Campus.

Also, I Think People Would Generally Prefer A Good Dub, But Would Settle For Subtittles. I Know I Would, And Generally Wouldn't Mind.

I agree with what was said above: I think a better target would be publice and university libraries. Then the higher price would be accepted, as the institutions generally have a greater budget than an individual. However, I would prefer well done subtitles. I've trained myself to read them, and I now find dubs to be distracting, as the discord between lip movement and voice catches my attention more than the message they are relaying.

I can promise you two things:
One is that by the middle of the summer you will be able to read a detailed description of every episode on mythology.hu, which I plan to do as soon as possible.
Also, as the show progresses I might be able to post a preview or two from one of the episodes.

Oh, and don't worry about the dub. If there will be one, I'll make sure we pick people with nice voices and with good English. I'm very sensitive to bad dubs, so if I get to make one, I will try to make it as good as possible.

I don't know about Hungary, but we (USA) have over 300 tv channels. This program, would run on TV very well. Channels like the history channel, the many discovery channels, not to mentiion PBS. There is a huge market.

You guys have mentioned PBS two times, and now I see that they originally broadcasted Campbell's The Power of Myth. Seeing that this is a very similar programme if we discount the language difference, we may very well have a chance there. Thank you for your input.
If you can think of any other channels that we may have a chance with, please do tell.
