It's official. (Huh.)

I just got a call from the boss at AXN who informed me that I, in fact, did not get the trailer producer job. This didn't really come as a surprise, but strangely, how he put it was a bit like a "it's not your fault, it's my fault" break-up speech. He said that what they wanted to see would have been something different but it's not saying anything about my personal qualities because only one percent of Hungarian film-related people can do what they expect to get from the person fulfilling this job. I reassured the guy that I know I'm not fit for this job, I clearly see that I only could do such a thing if I had years of expertise.
Then came the fun part. I asked him what became of the project I was assigned (creating two trailers for that awful ten year-old Australian crime show). "Well they're working on it," the answer came, which was quite reassuring to hear a month after I was there - so you can't do such a thing under seven hours. What gives.
So I wished them good luck and hung up. I'm okay with the whole thing, I learned what a job interview like this was like, and I also learned I don't want to work for companies like this. I already talked with the recently returned boss of PAX and I'm going back to produce the Myth DVD. It won't pay right away but when it's out, it might mean a lot of income. Until then, I'm now scripting a documentary's tapes for which I'm actually getting money when I'm done, and I like these kinds of jobs.

work, stupidity
