so, this has been a long forgotten activity indeed. remember when i used to make insignificant post about stupid shit? yes, i do as well. i am no longer the livejournal gastapo. i do intend to report to you some very serious events. the first, though it seems rather insignificant, is the witnessing of "V for Vendetta." a film that has had more impact on me than i had expected. everything about that movie seems so perfectly aligned, as does its plot (and no, the plot is not what the movie is). There are so many different levels to that movie, both allegorical and literal. Is this film foreshadowing, or does it tell the future in full realization of the present? is it wholly fiction? or is this message intended? obviously, one can see flaws in agency, but is this to remove oneself from accountability? even the publicity this film as recieved is forcasted within the film. so complex, yet, beautifully ornate.

if you have not seen the film, i recommend you do so. pay close attention. it goes much deeper that just the plot. look beyond the melodramatic actions of V, look at what this film is saying. not only about current affairs, but of how all cultures, and all countries have placed a lofty and unsupported expectaions on its government, church, state, and mind. if you've seen the film, and haved missed these elements. please, give it another chance. go see it again. this film is much more important than any film critic will ever recognize, partly because it calls into question the very role of the critic. remember, a critic is a failed poet. a true peot is its own critic. therefore we have Andy and Larry Wachowski, who have previously baffled me with The Matrix, proving to us again, that our sense of reality is vague, shallow, and incomplete.

obviously, i liked the movie. but for many more reasons than natalie portman's acting, or V's tactful use of a short sword. neither do i admire it for the reasons that it is so trendy to be "against the machine." with the insurgence of faux-punk dogmas, and diet anti-establishments it seems that this is just playing the role of "American Idiot" via celluloid. don't pervert the message. see it for yourself. let's hear what you think.
