I'm not going to write about Brody or anything else. Just smile and nod, smile and nod.
Anyway. What is this fortune actually supposed to mean? 0 28 2 010. Am I going to turn into that guy from Lost and just start seeing these numbers everywhere, avoiding them at all costs? Is it a combination? A date? It might not even be a fortune. Maybe it really is just something stupid and not worth paying attention to at all. It's just a slip of paper, but if you stop believing in one promise of that caliber, then it stands to reason that you have to stop believing in the rest. Back home, paintings can tell the future, so can dreams, so who's to say that something like this, as pointless as it seems, can't do the same?
If Isaac Mendez was still alive, would he paint these numbers on something? How am I supposed to change a future if it's written in some kind of code? Then again, even the first time around, trying to change everything, it's not like it was as easy as saying some magic words and letting fate take care of the rest.
It'd be nice if this place would send us fortunes that were more obviously helpful, like ones that let us know when people are going to leave. This time around wasn't as big of a mass exodus, for me at least, as it was last year around this time, but we've still got a month or so. What happens if people leave again? What happens if I leave again? What happens if I don't come back?
Maybe then I'd at least get to figure out what this stupid fortune actually means, if I even managed to remember it.

I've never really put much stock in fortune cookies. I mean, it's a cookie. How can it be any different from regular chocolate chip or an Oreo? Especially when you get fortunes like The rubber bands are heading in the right direction. What does that even mean? I think that actually makes it worse than chocolate chips or Oreos.
But I didn't even get anything like that. Everyone else got something cryptic or really ridiculous or weirdly specific, something with words at least. I only really looked at one of the fortunes from the cookies I ate yesterday, and this is what it said:
0 28 2 010
It's like whoever was making the fortunes forgot the fortune part and just decided to leave me with some "supposedly" lucky numbers. But these aren't number cookies. These are fortune cookies.
These are number cookies. I mean, if I get any combination locks in my future, then this will definitely come in handy, but for the time being I'm just going to pretend that I got a piece of paper talking about rubber bands that are moving in the right direction. I can buy those at the store and see where they take me.
[ooc: sleeping soon but will try to get to all tags tomorrow despite gross work in the afternoon.]
