"Daddy! Daddy! I got something important to talk to you about!"
Adam's brow perked, he was at a loss as to what a 4 year old would consider important. He sat up and stretched, a nap truly was rare when one had two children under five and a terribly pregnant wife. Remus crawled into his lap and looked up with his blue eyes wide.
"What does family mean?"
This was not at all what Adam expected. He chuckled. "Well Remus, family is the group of people who love you and take care of you, like mummy and me and Sasha and Uncle Harry and Grandpa and Poppy and Nan."
The little boy's eyebrows crinkled. "Am I a Weaswee?"
"Of course you are."
"Is Mummy?" Remus looked scared for a minute. Adam was perplexed. He ruffled the boy's hair and smiled.
"Of course she is, Remus. She became a Weasley officially when she and I got married."
"But Poppy and Nan's last name is Crowch. And Uncle Evan is a Rosweeay. Am I a Crowch and a Rosweeay too?"
"I suppose you are, yes."
"But Aunt Lily's last name is Malfoy. Am I a Malfoy too?"
"Yes, Remus. A family isn't limited to particular last names. Last names mean little really."
But the boy wasn't finished. He loved so many people and the thought that they weren't his family was terrifying. "Uncle Wemus and Auntie Tonks and Uncle Harry's last name is Wupin are they family? And Aunt Ginny is a Potter she's family right? And Aunt Stella and Aunt Andi-"
"Remus, they are all your family. You love them and they love you too. That's what matters, not last names."
"But Daddy! How can I write Wemus Evan Weaswee Crowch Rosweeay Malfoy Wupin Potter Bwack Westrange Savage? It won't fit! And if I don't write it all with my name some people might forget how I have the best family ever! "
