it's almost the end of an era: tomorrow is my last day of work at FFMG. it's very strange to think that i'll never be in this office again, at least not for a long, long time. overall i think it has been a very good experience. i now know so much more about practical architecture than i did a year ago. but school will be much different than this, and i don't know if having all these practical ideas in my head will be beneficial or detrimental. actually i probably won't give a second's thought to code restrictions and fire protection and all that other boring stuff. yay!
so last night, at around 10pm, as i was about to do some yoga, shawn came over. he told me that a bunch of people were coming over to my apartment. ok. but it really wasn't a bunch. it just ended up being texer, gavin, matthew and shawn. they were all tired, too, so didn't stay long. the occassion was texer's 30th birthday, and they had just eaten at penang. i missed the dinner b/c my dumb phone was on vibrate. but i had also already eaten with vince. he stopped by en route from trenton to ny. we were only together for about 1.5 hours, but it was nice to see him. i won't see him for over a week! i'm going home to pottsville thursday night. then dominic, adam and i are going backpacking for 3 days. i'm so looking forward to being outside all day. i thnk my skin is about to turn green from so much indoor air. i hate the suburbs, but that's a different story. see many of my previous posts.
and since i forgot to write about my weekend: we missed the show at the knitting factory because the L from bedford ave took about 35 minutes to come. but we (vince, chris, and i) met up with gavin, shawn, matthew, david, mari, oliver, and some of matthew's friends from michigan. after much debate, we went to haley's friend's bar on the LES. i drank too much too quickly: 1 lychee martini and 2 cosmos in about 30 minutes. we needed somewhere cheaper after that, so we headed over to Lit. i danced a bit, but mostly i talked excitedly with shawn and gavin about all our great band ideas. i can't mention any of them here, since the band is in its infancy. but someday....
saturday i was hazy and foggy and tired. but i managed to go to brunch with jason and gavin. and managed to walk from soho to century 21 with chris, gavin and vince. i don't think i said much that day. i was too brain dead. alcohol is bad. century 21 bored me to death, seeing that i had less than $8 in my bank account.
and sunday...i hate sundays. they always involve either the holland tunnel and bad traffic, or crowded njtransit trains. i still felt lazy, but spent most of the day running around, riding my bike, lifting weights. i was supposed to clean. i'm always supposed to clean. i never clean.
and now...i want to go somewhere for lunch. yesterday gavin and shawn came to my apartment and we had homemade potato salad and broiled tofu. today i don't think that's going to happen. i may have to resort to the frozen veggie burger in the freezer at work. blah.
