Notes: When I reach for a pen at two in the morning, someone should move it out of reach.
Four spindly legs supported the enormous purple monstrosity. All across its metal and glass body lights winked and gold stars twinkled. It was Franky's latest amazing contraption: the Super Pinball Machine. Or, as the foot-high, glittering letters above the scoreboard proclaimed it, the SPM.
"Spumuh..." Luffy said, sounding constipated. Chopper's attention was torn between his obviously afflicted captain and the shiny new toy. "Spummm... supmuh?"
"S-P-M," Franky corrected, sounding annoyed that this unforeseen difficulty was preventing appropriate praise from being lavished on his creation.
"No, it says 'sipem'," Luffy said positively. Consoling himself with the knowledge that literacy was not a prerequisite for kingship, especially where pirates were concerned, Franky left Usopp to explain acronyms to their captain.
It shouldn't have been a surprise that the machine soon came to be called the Starry Purple Mystery.
