jigarne So, I'm looking at what iTunes has as far as suggestions go for me right now. And it had the weirdest suggestion for me, at least the weirdest reasoning for a suggestion I guess. The way the iTunes recommendation system works is it has different categories for different genres of music (pop, rock, country, classical, etc.), and under each category it has six albums listed. For each album you can tell it that you already own the album, you're not interested, or you can go to the album's page. I check these every once in a while because the only way for a system like this to give you good suggestions is to have decent data to work with, and the only iTunes knows what music you own is to tell it you've already bought an album or to buy it from iTunes. It also lets you know what purchase or ownership "lead" to the conclusion you would like said album. Most times I log into iTunes, I go through it's suggestions not necessarily to see what it recommends to me, but to let it know music I already own. So today I was going through each category and it said that I should check out Kelly Clarkson's album
Breakaway because I had purchased
Huapango. I guess I'm just not sure how the iTunes intelligent machine decided I would like this. Sometimes it will give me oddball suggestions in categories it doesn't have much info about me from, but it won't give a reason. Other smart suggestion machines may give me results of things I wouldn't like or may seem oddball but when I look at their reasoning I can usually see the connection, it just isn't visible here, and I find it humorous. Just thought I'd share.
