The Commercial Generation

Mar 02, 2006 02:19

How many commercials do you watch in a day? I would say 16minutes worth in any given 60 minute program, (rough estimate).

Commercials for shit that no one needs.
The illusion of happines is being forced through our eyes, into our ears and stiffly centered into our character.

As a member of the commercial generation, i've recently thought it over and concluded that:
People become the portrait they admire, Or the portrait that admires them.

Slowly my generation is becomming individual commercials. Myspace, Facebook, Livejournal, personal profiles. We advertise ourselves like a candybar, or a beer might. Nice catchy slogans, "Happiest Sadist." It has became a market, we actually script profiles not so much for our viewing, but to compete with others that are being viewed.
Media is everywhere, even in our personal endeavors.

Just a really weird correlation.
