The Old Guard

I finally watched it. Wait, it's a book series? (saw in the credits)
It was a little slow at first, but good. I love the history.

I just saw it last weekend and enjoyed it. Without knowing anything but the movie, my opinions are:

1) I thought she was really mortal. It makes Booker's betrayal more ironic since she was already mortal at that point. Plus it'd be an interesting dynamic going forward since she technically requires more protection from the rest of the team now, protection that she is not used to and probably will chafe against. However, I didn't think of your followup question idea. That would be interesting. Would that be reversible, though?

2. I would like to think they'd buck the trend and have Quynh still be a "good guy" but I highly doubt it. I'm sure drowning umptyzillion times probably makes a person a touch unhinged and vengeful.

1. Very true, it does make the dynamic different. Although she is a badass, just has to remember she can't jump out of planes anymore. lol
I think if they can randomly go immortal to mortal, they can randomly go the other way.
Isn't the history of her fascinating?

2. Wouldn't that be nice to have that difference?
I'm also concerned about her mind at this point. Although it happened to Jack Harkness in Torchwood (was buried for at least 100 years, maybe 1000?), and he eventually remained a sort of anti-hero.

I don't know enough about Quynh to know how to feel about her, but I want her to not be psychologically damaged beyond repair because Andy would be so heartbroken and I love Andy. I love all of them a stupid amount, honestly. Except Booker. He was my least favorite to begin with but after he shot Andy I was completely done. Unfortunately for me, he seems to be a fandom darling to the point where people are shipping him with Nicky and I just can't WTF hard enough at that.

I know, Andy is awesome. At first I was really not sure about her, but she grew on me, kind of like a fungus. lol

Yeah, Booker is screwed up. But what can you do for someone who may not die, but needs some serious therapy (because obviously ass kicking didn't work).

Copley I just want to strangle. It's not up to you to give something away of someone else's. OMG. When he was giving that sob story to Nile I wanted her to deck him. Humans aren't meant to live forever. Just look at the Old Guard. ;) But I do like that he's trying to redeem himself.
Then I found out he was an operative in Serenity. I knew he looked familiar. And was a bad guy.

How is Booker a fandom darling??? Also, Nicky is with Joe. End of story.

*lol* Yep, Dudley Dursley ... took me a bit to figure that out.

No, I don't think she's still immortal.
Not sure if Quynh is bad ... but they made her look like it at the end, didn't they?

I had heard it before, but had forgotten. So it was a surprise again. lol

I just keep thinking about what she's saying as the reason Nile came. Why would they want to teach her something if she was going to die?

Yeah, that dark under eye makeup was a big clue.

He did play a redeemable character in one of the "Merlin" episodes, though... ;)

Dudley did? Good for him, then.

Graphic novels, I think.

I think She's still immortal, but maybe that's wishful thinking...?

I think Quynh is half-crazy from being locked up for so long, but I think she may still be good deep down. Way deep down.

I felt that she was mortal and Booker's betrayal had a nasty sting as far as i am concerned. I thoroughly loved it but felt it did start rather slow.

The funny part is that sometimes movies are slow in the beginning because they're giving info, but we didn't even get a lot of that. *shrugs*
Good, though.
