*I watered part of my front lawn so I could get the trees today. Tonight, rain, rain, rain! lol
*Happy because Paramount channel played(is playing) a Friday the 13th marathon most of the day. Since Syfy stopped playing monster movies on Saturdays there hasn't been much good on Saturday nights.
*The last two weeks my lesson with Zolar has been at my trainer's. Her arena is outside, and on a slight hill, so riding in it is much harder than mine. Good for us. But we were there because she has cavaletti, and wanted to use those to help him with his canter changes. Maybe helping a little? But he can sort of jump now. lol (She's the one going over the cavaletti. I am not a jumper person. At all). She did figure out that his right hip seems weak, and that may be the problem. (he'll do right to let changes, but not left to right. )
Last week's lesson, though, was hard. So very freaking hot, and I'm used to riding under cover, and not in the full sun. I think I got a little heat exhaustion. This week I'm going to take my big water cup/cooler since the two drinks I had with me wasn't enough.
*So, hooked up Tess to the little cart this week. She was a little looky, but stood for the most part. I noted some things that could be better, but decided to walk her anyway (with a halter and lead). She did good for the one circle. Then I carefully changed direction because the poles were a little too long (and probably too high) and interfered some. This is where I thought I should put her up, but didn't. Went to change back, and she looked at something on her other side, maybe it poked one of her scratches, I don't know, but she panicked. Tried to get her to calm, but no go, so I let the lead go. She did a good job of trashing the cart, but only tore one part of her harness (color me surprised). She finally got free of the cart, and put herself in the corner with much snorting.
*sigh* and she had been doing so well, too. I figured it had to happen at some point (because that's what everyone has said), but it still sucks. I was hoping she'd continue to be cool with it all. Of course, it would have helped if I would have listened to myself and put her up earlier. :/
I've left the cart in the barnyard so she has to walk by it, but she gives it horrible cranky looks. Zolar just wants it to be edible. Rex doesn't care.
Once again I looked for someone close by that trains, and the closest one is 6 hours away, and hasn't replied yet. So far it looks like we're still on our own.
BUT one of the videos has the guy hooking up in a round pen, which is a great idea-if they panic, then there's not a lot of places to go. I need to get some more panels for mine, though, since it's just set up for liberty and riding right now-too small.
Going to go back to the PVC poles, one at a time again. Need to get a new backstrap, but it's not really needed with the PVC stuff. Thinking about getting another inexpensive cart (there's one at Stateline tack), but going to see where her measurements put her (carts are made for different heights of horses). OTOH, a nice cart would be more solid and, well, nice. Nice cart also has nice price. :/
*Finally asked for an estimate for someone to take out the horrible and crappy working/looking fluorescent lights in the kitchen and put in can lights. We also talked about taking out the heavy wooden 80's frame around the living room skylight (that matches the kitchen light surround) and fixing that. Waiting for the estimate. I really need kitchen lights, but if it's not too much I'd love to do both parts. OTOH, my house is mostly not remodeled because I spend my money in the barn, so there's always money to be spent there.
*And once again staying up way too late. But had a fairly leisurely day today (not really), and I am feeling a little more relaxed than I have been the last week. whee!
