Finally watched Star Trek!

Tuesday afternoon, IMAX 3D. And there were, like 10 people there. Yes! Although, since I usually only go to movies on Saturday, I've been thinking it was saturday off and on all afternoon. lol

All in all, I liked it. And I'm really glad I wasn't spoiled.

Although really, they had to demote Kirk first? He can't keep getting demoted, then saving the earth, then getting repromoted. grr...

I liked the discussion about the new 5 year mission, and the fact that Kirk seemed (to me) be the impetus to go at the end, was great.

And Pike?! Pike!? really? Kirk would have gone after the dude without Pike dying.

The foreshadowing with the tribble was a bit obvious, but cute. And I'm guessing it was the fact that he was only 'mostly dead' (Princess Bride!!)that they were able to revive him. Because otherwise that would be causing so much trouble. And Pike would totally be back.

I liked that Kirk and Bones were running away from those aliens at first because they were trying to protect them.

My GIRL!! The Enterprise!!!!! She wasn't the one who ended up in the bay! Thank God!

The new ship was pretty cool, but kid of inelegant at the base (where the nacelles meet). And the dark decor on that ship was a little too in your face. (In a real war situation you need to be able to *see* where you're going.)

The little spat between Spock and Uhura actually cracked me up. I actually didn't mind them being together the way they did that. Not in your face, really, and she was respectful to Kirk this movie.

Didn't like Chekov being in engineering, but I know they needed Scotty to be on earth.

They still did a good job of mixing action and little bits of humor. (Which I definitely appreciate being the hater of drama that I am).

The music was good. I didn't even notice a good portion of it during the action, which was what it's supposed to be. Although I do like hearing it.
I had forgotten what all of the end titles sounded like. Apparently I mistook part of it for the nero theme, so I need to relisten to the last score.

star trek, movies, scifi
