So, I'm sorta back

Back from Yellowstone, but still on vacation. :D At what my parents call my sister and my 'Montana vacation home' - aka their house.

No one has killed another family member yet, but there were some tense moments. We survived, yay!

We went on the wagon ride to the cookout at Roosevelt, which was very yummy.

Stayed at the cabins at Roosevelt, which were much nicer than we thought they would be. We still had to walk to the bathrooms, but they had towels and soap there. :D Great beds, too.

Then we went to Lake, where we had a 2 hour boat ride. We were thinking about fishing, but decided not to. Wanted to see more of the lake. And since it was only my dad, my sister, and I, we got a great experience. The dude drove so fast-wheee! But we got to get out on Frank Island, and walk around. Very. Cool. And nommed some wild raspberries. Took a picture of the lone port-a-potty. heh. And my dad got to ask him all sorts of questions. He told us some stories I'm sure we wouldn't have heard on the regular tour. lol

Stayed at the cabins behind Lake Hotel, which have been redecorated. Very nice. Also, bathrooms in the rooms-yay!!

Ate like pigs at Lake that night. I had a buffalo steak-OMG, it was good. I was so full by the end that I rolled back to the cabin.

(BTW, totally stay in cabins instead of the hotels, they are quiet, and pretty much have the same amenities=none. lol No, they have nice beds, towels, soap, etc. No TV, of course, and I've only been in one with a phone-I think.)

We stopped for some trails-Lower Falls, Tower Falls, Mid Geyser basin, Old Faithful.
-OMG, there's a new/oldish geyser at Mid Geyser basin called Excelsior. eeee! Star Trek! But it was active a long time ago, then stopped, and started again in 1985ish. It was awesome!!! (Pictures when I get home) Hadn't seen it before.
-Old Faithful has a new Visitor Center that has a great big window looking out on Old Faithful. Awesome. And I got two books on the science/geology of Yellowstone, which I had been wanting. One of them was done by the guys at MSU, which is close by, and my dad's alma mater. Very cool.
-Lower falls is awesome. We saw it from the very top looking down. High! And pretty.
-Tower Falls is gorgeous. The trail to the bottom was closed, so our debate about going down ended up being moot.

No wifi in the park. Cell service was spotty. Got the lowest speed at Faithful. And on top of a freaking mountain in the middle of nowhere we got 3G service. I swear to God. Cracked us up. No service at Lake or Roosevelt. Some service between Lake and West Thumb. Again in the middle of nowhere. ????

tl;dr Yellowstone is still awesome. Cell phone service is bafflingly random. Ate like pigs. Pics to come when I get home.
