I can feel Methos using books as a refuge for many ages in this passage--I can see him whispering Herodotus in the Alexandrian Library, illuminated uncensored manuscripts in an Irish monastery, hiding in a cave in the Albigensian uprising.

And even whispering to an unconscious Joe Dawson in the cellar of Shakespeare and Company's bookstore while he's reading fragments of MacLeod's chronicle.

Yes, from the first time we see him as Adam, Methos seems to be hiding amongst books. I imagine him escaping the noise inside his head of thousands of years of living, as well as fleeing the guilt he claims not to have, by immersing himself in a book.

AD, this is *so* insightful. It explains a lot about Methos. Was it inspired by the picture of him in Source?

Yes. It's just a kind of a mini-drabble. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I'm trying to work up a head of steam on the writing. Longing for the muse to strike me soon, good and hard, please.
