Leon and Ada have been cast in the new live action movie Resident Evil Retribution. What does everyone think of Anderson's choices?

Pictures this way... )

I stopped watching after Ali Larter was cast as Claire. The third one was horrendous. I watched it once, that was enough. I heard the fourth was worse. Leon is my all time favorite character, him being in them makes me want to watch the movie less, not more.

On the plus side, I hear they're making another one of the animated films that has nothing to do with Milla and her continued ability to miss the point of RE being about humans vs. Monsters, not monsters vs. Monsters.

The quote that Anderson made that made me shutter was when he remarked he was introducing Las Plagas because he loved the idea of having zombies ride motorcycles while wielding machine guns and no one had ever done that before.

May I add, there is a -reason- no one has ever done that before, it's the campiest thing I've ever heard.

I know the quote you mean. Maybe he was inspired by RE5 and that scene with motorcycle riding ganados (or whatever RE5 called their main infected group)...? I hear Las Plagas will feature in the movie so maybe this is what he was aiming for. :S

Eh. We've already had telekinesis in these movies. The motorbikes by comparison feel like an upgrade in the logic department.

Majini is what they're called.

And yeah, RE5 did the motorcycle riding zombies thing. I wouldn't be surprised that's where he got it since he also had mind control Jill at the end of the fourth's credits.

In all honesty, I might be expecting too much from this film version of Leon and Ada, but I really love how open Li is to everything. She seems like she's easy to work with and I think that's very important. She also seems more-than-willing to become whatever she needs to be to play the part, if you know what I mean. There is a strive in her, I think. I gives me some hope that, if Anderson doesn't butcher Ada, we'll see Li be very sexy and strong. She has the capability. She's also charming naturally, which is something that Ada has despite her bitch-exterior. ;) Also, her legs would look FANTASTIC in the RE4 Ada dress. <3 I'd love it if Ada actually has a Chinese accent. :) It'd be a nice change, IMO.

The actor for Leon looks to have the intensity. It's mainly how Anderson handles both characters, which is something to worry about. What I most hope for, considering Alice is his main heroine, is some epic Leon/Ada + Alice co-op scenes.

They both look like they could be good, decent at least. The guy who plays Leon looks intense and pretty as anyone who plays Leon should. The lady who plays Ada looks a little young for the part in my opinion, but she is certainly pretty enough and looks capable of playing a strong heroine.

What is the world coming to - when we can only hope to see Leon and Ada together in a horrible movie series instead of the games we love? ):

I just want another great game of RE4's caliber with Leon and Ada spending tons of time together. Is that too much to ask, Capcom?

I'm curious as to how well this may go (in all consideration, perhaps not much at all), but I haven't considered the movies as part of the actual RE plot. On the other hand I'm disappointed that they haven't made any more appearances together since RE2 and RE4. There's a vast difference of appeal in playing the games that the movies can't seem to express.

As for the casting, I sort of twitched when I saw that the guy had a cleft in his chin. I don't mean to be picky, but...Leon doesn't have a butt chin.

Of course, it could be worse, considering the horrendous casting choices I've seen in movies past (coughATLAcough) so I'm a little thankful it's not as bad. On the other hand, there's no excuse in screwing up any part of production, especially the casting.

Mmm...well, there's not much to do except wait and see how it all goes.
