Lunch with friends and other things.

Alex and I had lunch yesterday. It was unexpected -- I was heading out to find food (Jack and Michael were having one of their DA-EADA lunches) and ran into her. It was nice to have someone to go to lunch with and good to catch up. Speaking of playing catch-up, I finally heard from Casey and it looks like we're going to go out for drinks soon. Now if only I could catch Nima when Queens Narco isn't going crazy (which apparently it's constantly doing these days)...

I should've also mentioned somewhere that Cori graduated from med school last month. We finally have a new Dr. Rubirosa. The graduation ceremony was really nice. My parents -- I don't think I've ever seen my father prouder. Ileana and I were really happy for her, too, especially after the last few months that she's had. She's aiming to get an internship at the Sacred Heart in Queens where she was doing work for med school. Last I checked in with her, that seemed to be coming together. She really liked working in the ER. She's always been very calm and has a good beside manner, so that makes sense.

I'm glad I found out about the date of Ellie's christening before I confirmed my and Michael's travel plans for that weekend (his 40th birthday is that Sunday, Feb. 1; Ellie's christening is that Saturday, Jan. 31). I can't believe I didn't remember to ask Alex when exactly in January that was before I started planning.

As for what I'm planning for Michael's birthday -- after talking with him, and then talking with his mother again, I came to the conclusion that going away for two or three days would be a good idea. He doesn't want a fuss made -- just to relax and to, as he said "enjoy life". I thought getting out of the City to do that would be a nice surprise. Also, he doesn't have to deal with his brothers, which he expressly mentioned he did not want to have to do.

We're going to leave on Saturday after the christening for the Bahamas. We'll get back on Wednesday. I've already arranged for vacation time for the both of us. He really ought to pay more attention to the things I give him to sign.
