Finally got into the silks that a friend picked up for me at a moving sale. Five dollars a meter!!! Part of the haul included a pinkish lavender that was so pale as to almost be silver, and a slightly darker shade in true lavender. In my wanderings around the local fabric district (and wow is that a dangerous place that is walking(!!)distance from my house) I found some fabulous upholstery cotton in serious bright jewel tones, and a reasonable passing for period print. I also picked up some quilting cotton for lining and am still kicking myself for not grabbing more for a 50's summer dress. But I digress...
Of that big pile of fabric was born this:
The outermost coat still needs braid and buttons, need to negotiate with a local friend who does tablet weaving or braid my own - needs colours to keep up with the coat print. :0)
This thing is dazzling in person, must be why we came in second at Crown. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. (It did make the Queen jump out of her throne to manhandle it during the procession. LOL!)
