I got offered a job as a live-in nanny I think. I say "I think" because I'm not sure if the woman thinks I'm going to be STAYING with her or looking after her son. She's a psychiatric nurse who works 7 p.m. to 7 a.m

Gosh, that sounds like an AWFUL lot of work just for a room! Especially if she's offering you no extra cash and is on the fence about you having your cats! I mean, at the end of the day if it's meant to be your home for the summer it should feel like a home, right? Don't let anybody fleece you or take advantage, even if they aren't doing it on purpose!
Okay, shut me up. I sound like somebody's mother. Ew.
But if you think it's a good arrangement go for it! Best of luck!
I think you're right about the cat thing. I mean, I did take responsibility for him. I'd never just leave him at the pound, but I bought him, Joe bought Jojo, so he and I both have responsibilities to the animals.
She's allergic to cats. She's said I can bring Winky, but there's a dog there and it's a small apartment. That and two incorrigible children AND going to school?
Ugh. I don't think I'm taking this thing. One the one hand, time away from Joe would be good, on the other I'd have to work for no money AND I wouldn't be able to save up at all, so at the end of the summer I'd really be no better off than before...seems like it would just be a bandaid.
I wouldn't want to have to give up a pet... I don't think it sounds stupid at all. Sometimes it is the odd things, little things that set off the alarm bells.
